44th Cave Ministries is a congregation built around sacred plant sacrament — held in ceremony, protected as religious practice, open to those called to the work.
44th Cave Ministries was founded in 2015 by a veteran who came home carrying depression and PTSD, and found more honest relief in ceremony than anywhere else he'd looked. What began as one man's private practice grew into a circle, and the circle grew into a congregation — built specifically for others carrying the same weight: veterans, and anyone navigating mental and spiritual struggle who has found the standard paths wanting.
In 2024, that congregation became 44th Cave Ministries Incorporated, a registered Florida not-for-profit corporation. Incorporation didn't change the practice — it gave the practice a name the law could recognize.
We are based in Miami. Our members are patent examiners and line cooks, veterans and students, people in long recovery and people who have never touched a substance outside our circle. What they share is a willingness to sit in the dark together, on purpose — and to come out the other side less alone with it.
We treat plant sacrament the way any serious tradition treats its central rite: with structure, with elders present, and with an expectation that the work continues long after the ceremony ends.
Sacrament is never distributed cold. Our founder prays and blesses each portion himself before it reaches the circle — the ceremony begins before anyone partakes, not after.
What happens in the cave has to survive contact with daylight. Members meet in small groups afterward to bring the experience back into ordinary life.
Membership is by invitation and mutual discernment, not walk-in access. We follow a tradition; we do not improvise one on the spot.
